메탈 팬들 사이에서는 어둠의 제왕으로 추앙받고 있는 슬레이어. Angel Of Death는 이들의 마스터피스인 "Reign in Blood"(1986년)의 시작을 알리는 곡이다.
Angel Of Death는 제 2차 세계대전 중에 아우슈비츠에서 유태인을 상대로 생체실험을 했던 나치 의사 Josef Mengele를 소재로 했다. 실험실에서 이뤄졌던 갖가지 잔인한 생체실험상황을 묘사하고 있는 끔찍한 가사는 예전에 읽었던 소설 마루타를 떠올리게 한다.
이곡으로 인해 슬레이어는 나치즘과 인종차별주의 관련 구설수에 오르기도 했었다.
